Frequently Asked Questions

As you are researching vendors for your upcoming wedding, you will undoubtedly gather a list of questions that will need to be answered in order make a decision on who to hire that will be the best fit for your needs. If you’re just starting your research, I have compiled a list of frequently asked questions that may help you learn a little bit more about my professional photography experience, style, and process! Have a question that isn’t listed here? Reach out today and I am happy to answer!

How long have you been a wedding photographer? How’d you get into it?

The first wedding I photographed was for a close friend in the summer of 2015 at the top of Mount Philo in Charlotte, Vermont. This friend had mentioned that he and his fiance needed someone with a camera to document the day and I was thrilled at the opportunity to expand my photography skills beyond the portraits and lifestyle work I had been practicing. What I discovered was I loved being behind the lens and documenting the pure joy on the faces of family and friends and the small moments between the couple.

Over the years, my love for photography has grown into a full-time business and my spring, summer and fall months are now designated to traveling to beautiful Vermont and New England venues as a wedding and elopement photographer. My favorite moments to capture are those that you and your partner will look fondly back on — from the moment of rings exchanged, the excited smile as you walk down the aisle hand-in-hand. My goal as your wedding photographer is to document the true beauty of your momentous day as you enjoy every moment, and to leave you with photos of memories that will last a lifetime.

What services do you offer?

I offer photography services for weddings and elopements, individual and couple portraits, engagement sessions, family, newborn, maternity, and more. All sessions are on-location of your choice, and my work is created by natural outdoor lighting rather than an indoor studio. If you have an idea or vision that is not listed here, contact me today and I’d love to hear about what you have in mind!

I’ve never had my photo taken — what do I do with my hands?!

Believe me, even I feel awkward in front of a camera sometimes! My guess is that you do not have professional modeling experience on your resume, and you certainly don’t need to in order to have great photos taken. I don’t like to use the word “posing” because often what comes to mind is those third-grade photos with your palms framing your face as you grin up at the camera (you may or may not be wearing a pink scrunchie in these photos).

However, I will help guide you to some natural positions that will look great in your photos. I encourage you to interact with your partner or family members as much as possible. I encourage movement, dancing, hugs, and twirling. I’ll even bring some beer or wine upon your request if it helps loosen you up a bit! My goal is for you to have fun, be interactive with your loved ones, and capture awesome photos.

How do you describe your photography style?

I like to describe my style as authentic and candid, with gentle guidance and direction for portraits and group photos. My goal is to capture the true moments of the day and I want you to be able to enjoy your event without being bombarded by a camera in your face. It is important to me to be able to capture your wedding day moments without taking anything away from your experience. I don’t rely too much on posing, but I do provide gentle guidance and direction to get the best photos of your day. My editing style varies depending on the time of year, but I always love golden hues and contrast that make colors pop! You can view some examples of my most recent work on Instagram or on the Wedding Gallery page here.

What if there is inclement weather for our scheduled session?

Vermont and New England has some of the most amazing venues and locations for weddings, but it’s imminent that the weather may not always work in our favor. The best way to combat this is to be prepared! Have a back-up location for your ceremony or a tent in case of rain, provide umbrellas for guests and, if nothing else, just roll with the punches! Umbrellas can make for some fun photos, even if it is a little drizzly outside.

How long is the turnaround time for our wedding gallery?

Standard turnaround time for delivery of your photos is 90 days after the event date — however, depending on the time of year it may be sooner. Most of my wedding packages include “sneak peeks” so you at least get a few to share with family and friends right away!

Do you provide the original unedited RAW image files?

The images in your gallery will be edited to improve lighting, contrast, sharpness, and color — all of which is a standard process for digital photographers. Therefore, I do not provide the unedited RAW images.

Do you watermark your photos?

No! I strongly believe you should have photos that are unmarked.

Will I have full ownership to the photos?

Yes, once delivered, you have the rights to do whatever you would like with the photographs. I do, however, ask for credit by name for any businesses that use my work for any public or marketing purposes.

How will the photos be delivered?

The photos will be delivered to your email with a link to your online gallery. From there, you can download your photos with the provided PIN, share the link with friends/family, share to social media, and order prints.

Should I opt-in for a second shooter?

Having a second shooter can be beneficial for several reasons. First, having two photographers is helpful to capture some of those “getting ready moments” while you and your partner may be in separate locations before the ceremony. A second shooter can also help capture different angles and guarantees excellent coverage during your ceremony and any other important moments of the day. Think of it this way — if you are walking down the aisle, you may want photos of your excited smile as well as the back of your dress or garments while also capturing your partner’s reaction. I do my best to capture this all when I am working solo, but a second shooter can help make sure that all those boxes are checked. Finally, a second photographer is suggested for weddings with more than 150 guests to ensure coverage of all guests and families while the primary shooter may be working exclusively with the couple.

What are your travel fees?

All wedding packages include travel fees and taxes so there are no additional costs! To receive a more accurate estimate for your wedding location, please contact me directly!

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Absolutely and I highly recommend an engagement session with your photographer before the big day! It’s an opportunity to get used to being behind the camera with your partner as well as getting to know your photographer! I recommend choosing a location that is meaningful to you — perhaps an apple orchard you and your partner visit every year, a beautiful park where you take your dog for a walk every day, or even the top of a mountain (I’m always up for an adventure)! An engagement session is included with all 8+ hour wedding and elopement packages. Reach out today for more details on wedding packages or an engagement session!

How do I book my wedding date?

You can start by filling out this contact form to provide details including your wedding or event date, location, and telling me a bit about what you are looking for! I’ll follow up to send you wedding package options and schedule a time to chat — on a call, FaceTime, or over a drink — so you have the opportunity to ask any questions and so I can get to know the two of you a little bit more! If you decide you would like to move forward with securing the date, I will send a wedding agreement form for your review and submission as well as a request a 25% retainer to hold the date.

Have additional questions? Please submit using the form on my contact page and I will be in contact shortly!
