Wedding season is in full force in Vermont by May, after the snow has finally melted, the grass has turned from brown to green, and lush flowers begin to frame the fields that settle beneath the Green Mountains. It is undoubtedly one of my favorite times of year to celebrate love, family, and friends in this beautiful New England state that we call ours.
Katie reached out to me early in the year to talk about her wedding photography vision and I was pleased at the opportunity to begin the season shooting only a few minutes from my hometown of Middlebury, Vermont (Go Tigers!). We met at the Middlebury Inn where I met her mother and best friend, getting the opportunity to chat and learn more about Katie and Johnny’s story.
The ceremony was simple and elegant, nestled in the loft of the Sudbury Church, with farmland stretched across acres to the west. I could see the love that the groom and bride have for each other, their connection through music (Katie’s brother is an amazing guitar player and singer), and the support from the community, friends and family around them.
To throw an awesome wedding reception, there are three things that you really need (in my opinion): 1) great food, 2) a little booze and 3) awesome dance moves. This party did not lack any of these three things. With delicious treats from Take Your Sweet Time, tents and tables from Vermont Tent Company, bouquets and boutonnieres from New Leaf Organics, this event certainly went off without a hitch.
Thank you so much to the bride and groom, Katie and Johnny for having me, and to the friends and family who helped celebrate this amazing day.
